Food Safety qualifications are intended for anyone working in catering, hospitality or manufacturing settings where food is prepared, cooked, served or produced. It is essential to food safety that all food handlers are aware of the hazards and controls associated with the types of food they produce.
The law requires that all food handlers need to be trained according to their food handling work activities. The award is sector specific, designed for anyone working in a catering, retail or manufacturing environment where food is prepared, cooked and handled.
Food Safety Certificate Level 2 in Catering: Pubs, Hotels, Restaurants & Cafes, Contract Catering & Fast-Food Outlets, Hospitals, Care Environments, Mobile Food Vans & Schools.
Food Safety Certificate Level 2 in Retail: Supermarkets & Convenience Stores, Businesses with frozen, chilled & hot food display counters.
Food Safety Certificate Level 2 in Manufacturing: Larger food or drink manufacturing environments that include metal detection and/or moving production lines.
Smaller manufacturers not using these processes can choose the Catering version to fulfil their legal obligations.
